Essendon’s wheelchair football sides hosted a special fixture at the NEC Hangar on Friday night, taking on Richmond in a Dreamtime clash.

Attended by CEO Craig Vozzo, AFLW player ambassadors Mia Busch and Steph Wales, as well as club staff and the Bomber Squad (who hosted a sausage sizzle), the night provided a great spectacle for the club.

The CWFL side kicked off proceedings, unfortunately falling to the Tigers by 82 points. Will Taylor was the side’s player of the match for his defensive efforts, but Richmond’s depth at community level was on display with some of their senior players dropping back to boost their reserve stocks.

Following a gift exchange between the two senior teams and an acknowledgement of country, the senior sides’ clash followed, including a special half-time dance performance from the Indigenous Outreach Projects.

The Tigers proved too good, winning by 66 points. Hayden Farley took home player of the match for the senior Dons, while Caleb Logan scored six goals for the night.
