Essendon's VFL and VFLW programs are set to open their 2024 seasons in a double header at the NEC Hangar this Saturday.
Proceedings will kick off at 10:05am when the Bombers take on Port Melbourne in the VFLW, a rematch of last season's preliminary final.
Equipped with a new-look side this season under the leadership of Senior Coach Cherie O'Neill and with midfielder El Chaston taking on the captaincy, the Dons will be keen to start strongly on home deck.
The Bombers' VFL opener will follow at 1:05pm, with Senior Coach Blake Caracella to open his account in the role against the Brisbane Lions' reserves.
It's a big test to kick off the 2024 campaign for the Dons, who've seen marked development in their young list over the course of their first full pre-season together.
Off the back of four practice matches over the past month, new Skipper Xavier O'Neill will be keen to finally lead his side onto the park for premiership points.
For Bomber fans looking to attend, the Jack Jones Cafe and Bomber Shop will each be open from 10am-3pm AEDT to satisfy your food and merch needs on the day.
There won't be on-site parking available, so fans are recommended to park along Melrose Drive or seek alternate transport.
