The club is happy to announce the winner for the All-Star ANZAC Day team competition, run earlier this month.
Club Curator of History and Heritage Gregor McCaskie sifted through all the great entries to find a team which took into account all the great players who have played on the big stage for ANZAC Day.
"It was a fraught exercise at the best of times," said Gregor
"The final team was determined through careful analysis of each player and from input by a number of Essendon football department staff.
"We hope it blends skill, speed, consistency and grit from across the years."
These criteria lead to the selection of Graeme O'Brien as the overall winner of the competition.
O'Brien's strict criteria involved players having played at least four games, a winner of the ANZAC Day Medal, a consistent performer as well as playing with the courage, pride and fairness that encapsulates the ANZAC spirit.
We'd like to firstly congratulate Graeme on his winning entry and thank all the fans for submitting their teams!
