Just a mere week ago, the Comrie family property was under threat from burning bushfires in Victoria’s north-west.
At the time, young Essendon fan Maddie Comrie had to make a quick decision about the handful of possessions she would take as the family proceeded to evacuate from the area.
The first thing Maddie reached for was her beloved handmade quilt-featuring Bombers star Dyson Heppell.
On Wednesday afternoon, Maddie travelled over five hours to Bomber Shop HQ at the True Value Solar Centre to meet her hero.
She was delighted to have the opportunity to present Heppell with the specially made quilt in his honour.
Heppell was humbled by the support shown from Maddie.
“I was blown away by the effort that Maddie went to in making the quilt, and then travelling all this way to present it. It was unreal.”
“The support of our fans right across Australia and around the world never fails to amaze us as a playing group and we are grateful for the ongoing support of all Bomber fans.”
Join the Bomber army today as we strive for 60,000 members in 2014.
