Under the rules agreedbetween the AFL and AFL players association restricted and unrestricted freeagents may consider offers from rival clubs during the post season period fromOctober 1 to 5pm on October 19.
Any unrestricted freeagent may automatically move to the club of his choice.
Any restricted freeagent may have an offer to them matched by his club, which has the right offirst refusal of his services.
In the case that anunrestricted free agent does not want to remain at his original club, he mustenter the draft or seek a trade.
Any club with a net loss of free agentswill receive compensation from the league in the form of allocated draft picks.
