Essendon forward Bonnie Toogood has been named Vice-Captain of the 2023 AFLW All Australian team at centre half forward.
The Bombers’ Co-Captain was rewarded at the W Awards on Monday night for a stellar season that saw her play every game as the club secured a maiden finals berth in the competition.
Toogood averaged 19 disposals and five tackles per game in 2023, booting 16 goals and hitting the scoreboard in 10 of her 11 games.
The 25-year-old also averaged more than six marks per game as the Bombers’ primary target up forward, leading the AFLW in total marks with 72 for the season.
Toogood was instrumental in some big victories for her side, including a career-high 24 disposals in the round six win over the Cats in Warrnambool and a 23-disposal, two-goal effort in the season opener against Hawthorn.
After making the All Australian squad for her efforts in season seven, this marks the first time Toogood has cracked the final All Australian team, capping off arguably a career-best season.
