They were called the 'working class heroes' of the Essendon Football Club and, in 1998, the Bomber Mag paid tribute to some of the hard hitting men of the Club.

Paul Barnard, Damien Hardwick, Gary Moorcroft and Dean Solomon were celebrated for their physical presence on the field and ability to win the contested ball.
