The sixth-placed Port Melbourne came out firing against the seventh-placed Bendigo Bombers, running rampant in the first quarter kicking 8.0 to the Bomber’s 1.4, which made Bendigo’s chances of winning slim from the outset.
Despite Bendigo’s improvement in the second quarter – where they managed to outscore their opposition – Port Melbourne proved too strong in the second and won easily 18.8 (116) to 8.10 (58).
Essendon listed players Michael Quinn and Bachar Houli were among the best-on-ground and Jarrod Atkinson kicked two goals putting all three back in contention for senior selection next week.
Young Bendigo recruit Ben Duscher also shone in the otherwise dismal game, as he was voted best-on-ground for Bendigo and managed to kick two goals.
