Essendon forward Jackson Merrett has been nominated for the Round Eight Goal of the Year following an amazing banana from the boundary line late in Saturday’s win over Brisbane.
With just 13 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Merrett roved a Patrick Ambrose contest against the boundary line, then finished with an impressive goal using the outside of his boot.
The Round Eight Goal of the Year nominations are:
Lance Franklin (Sydney Swans)
Jackson Merrett (Essendon)
Chris Yarran (Carlton)
The youngster who has only played 22 games shows us how he good he is in pressure situations and why he was awarded the 2013 Lindsay Griffths Rising Star Medal.

Voting closes on Monday at 12pm.
