The sight of Jacqui Vogt tugging at her jumper after booting the Bombers' first AFLW goal at Windy Hill will be an enduring image.
The midfielder was fired up against her former side, finishing with 16 disposals and seven tackles in a strong display.
Vogt believes the heavy build-up in the club’s return to Napier Street held the side in good stead before Sunday’s win.
“Coming back to Windy Hill, we had a really big lead-up, having past players come and speak to us about what it means,” Vogt said.
“We took that passion on the field today and I’m just really super proud of the girls.
“With all the history, to kick (our) first goal at Windy Hill means a lot.”
Fuelled by a strong turnout of nearly 4,000 Bomber fans, the atmosphere generated plenty of excitement from Vogt and the wider playing group.
"(The crowd) were unreal. From the moment we stepped out, they were incredible,” Vogt said.
“There’s nothing better than playing in front of a home crowd.
“We hope to see them continue to support us.”
The fast start to the game would prove critical for the Bombers, who withstood a tough fightback from the Saints throughout.
An emphasis based on winning the contest will be just as important for the Bombers when they travel to Adelaide to face the Crows this weekend.
“We knew the Saints would bring the pressure and hit the contest hard, so we wanted to start well and I think we stepped in and did that,” Vogt said.
“We look to take on Adelaide next week and continue to build from two strong games.”
