Essendon recorded a fourth straight win in round 13, taking down Carlton by 34 points at the MCG. 

Essendon’s handball chain and quick ball movement looked very damaging against the Blues, particularly in a third-quarter blitz which saw six consecutive goals break the game open.

The return of Peter Wright from injury bolstered the Bombers’ front line, with his five-goal haul electrifying the 83,000-strong King’s Birthday Eve crowd. 

The Dons now sit in sixth on the ladder ahead of their clash with the Dockers this Saturday night. 

Injury update: 'DP3' returns, Draper to miss

Midfielder Darcy Parish is set to return to Essendon's lineup on Saturday, making his return from a lengthy stint on the sidelines with a calf injury.

Jake Kelly will also return after overcoming concussion and illness, whilst Dylan Shiel remains another week away as he manages a foot injury.

Ruckman Sam Draper will miss the clash with Fremantle after battling hip soreness.

Mid-season draftee Jaiden Hunter has been sent for scans this week to assess the extent of a back injury.

On Monday, Essendon players and staff joined House of Marley and One Tree Planted to give back to the Earth, planting trees throughout Fairbairn Reserve as part of the One Tree Planted Afternoon.

Skipper takes out Player of the Month

Bombers Captain Zach Merrett was rewarded for his inspired form in the month of May, winning the Liberty Player of the Month award. 

Merrett’s highlights included a colossal 39-disposal display against Richmond which saw him take home best afield honours.

VFLW Bombers back on the board 

In a crunch away clash with Casey last weekend, the VFLW Dons held on to record a five-point win. 

The result is crucial for the team’s finals hopes, sitting inside the top four with just two games remaining in the regular season. 

They now look ahead to a matchup with Port Melbourne at ETU Stadium this Sunday, kicking off at 11:30am.

Tsatas makes strong VFL start

In exciting news, draftee Elijah Tsatas made his first appearances for the club via the VFL over the past three weeks. 

Tsatas tallied 18 and 24 disposals in his first two games of the year, hitting the ground running in Dons colours.

He will look to build on his form in the VFL Dons' clash against Port Melbourne at ETU Stadium this Sunday, starting at 2:05pm.
