The team may have taken a break this week, but the learning theme that has been so prevalent this season has continued.
Coach John Worsfold spent the early part of the week embedded in the Queensland Rugby League State of Origin camp.
The Maroons secured their tenth Origin title in the last 11 years, when they beat New South Wales 26-16 on Wednesday night.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to observe an elite team in another sport going into potentially their biggest game of the year,” Worsfold told Bomber Radio.
“I was privileged to be a small part of just observing how they went about their preparation and getting to talk to some of the players and coaching staff.
“I really enjoyed it and obviously, to win the game and be there while they won that and see what it meant to them was great as well.”
Worsfold told Bomber Radio the build-up to the Origin match resembled an AFL final.
“It was a bit more like a big final in terms of the hype around it,” he said.
“When the Queensland team left the hotel for a walk on the morning of the game, there were people everywhere following them around.
“In general, the preparation was very similar.”
Worsfold has been a Captain or a Coach in the AFL for most of the last 25 years.
With three premierships in his keeping, the Bombers Coach said he remains as enthusiastic as ever to explore other fields to broaden his knowledge.
“Whenever I get the chance to observe another sport, even businesses at the elite level, I love to grab the opportunity,” he said.
“I had spent some time with the Brisbane Broncos when I first started coaching over at West Coast, so maybe 13-14 years ago.
“This was just another opportunity that I had to get up close and really see how they do it.”
