Essendon has named reigning Crichton medallist Peter Wright to play his first game of 2023 against Carlton in round 13.
After dislocating his shoulder on the eve of round one, the 26-year old has been named to play at full forward. Dons fans will be able to see the pairing of Wright and Sam Weideman in the forward line for the first time in an AFL match.
As Essendon gain one of their more senior players, the Dons will unfortunately lose another in Dylan Shiel who will miss this weekend's King's Eve clash with a foot injury.
Potentially making their way back in the side is ruckman Nick Bryan, forward Tex Wanganeen and defender Jake Kelly, who have been named on the extended bench pending final team selection on Friday at 5pm AEST.
