The big star forwards seem to get all the attention but small forwards have an extremely important role to play.

In this week's poll we ask 'Who is Essendon's most important small forward?' Click here to vote.

Maybe you think Davey because of his defensive pressure, Monfries because he works hard, Williams for his goal-kicking record or Jetta because of his potential. Maybe it's someone else?

Last week we asked 'are you happy with Essendon's 2009 National Draft picks?' and 68.5% said 'yes', only1.1% voted 'no' and 30.4% thought 'time will tell'.

Here is what some of the fans had to say:

Daniel from Aireys Inlet, Vic says: We did well by recruiting key prospect Carlisle and the midfielders Melksham and Colyer will help out the likes of Watson, Stanton and Prismall. Very happy to have a Long back as Windy Hill. Give him No.13 and give Melksham No.24 (Joe Misiti's old number).

Dave from Upwey says: The selections are good to great. A balance of what is needed and some insurance. Would be good to get Liam Patrick in the coming draw. Not unreasonable as there are only two live picks. Lets take him for the ""X"" factor, the show stopping moments that will bring a roar from our supporters that make the Collingwood cheer squad sound like sleep time at the kindergarten.

James Brown from Berwick, Vic says: Yes. How could we not be? I mean, obviously time will tell, but right as this very moment, I am very happy. I have watched footage of all of our top 3 picks, and Im very pleased with both Carlisle and Colyer. Melksham has been raved about by everyone, but I thought his disposal lets him down sometimes, however, he does do well in the contest... a good clearance player and Longy, well, he's a Long...how could he not be a good player? Our list is very well-rounded now, plenty of depth all over the field, with a great average age. Bring on the 8years of football.

gibbo13 from wa says: Get Liam Patrick and Wanganeen in the pre-season draft than ill be happy

Greg Sloan from Somerville VIC says: They all look like promising players. Particularly Melksham(spelling?). Looks like we were very fortunate to get him at ten. If Long turns out to be a player, and you would think he will, it would be nice to see him wear that number thirteen. They say he plays a bit like Dempsey. Hope so!

andy toma from Victoria says: I personally think our new midfilders are great for youngsters because we got a fast small mid (Travis Colyer) and a tall fast strong mid (Jake Melksham) so that is fantastic. And we also got a small defender to step in the shoes of Mcphee and to help our young tallent in the back. Jake Carlisle is a forward who we needed because of the players that we have lost like Lucas and Lloyd and Williamss will help to. So that is phnomenal boys YOU CAN SMELL THE SUCCESS COMMING

stuart smith from norwood/tasmania/australia says: Satisfied but I felt they should have taken Ball

mds from Merimbula, NSW says: Wondering who we are going to pick up in the rookie draft. Tennace would be a great pick up for us and a ready made premiership player to boot and maybe the north player he has a bit of the mongrel about him.

jonnie from gippsland says: Of course you've got to be happy with a good midfielder, a tall key position player, a small West Australian and another Long.

Martin Gol from Beaconsfield Vic says: Excellent result for EFC. A mixed selection of 18yo players and I wish each one of them a successful and rewarding football career with the Dons. Three cheers to the list management team.

Malcolm from Western Australia says: As a passionate Bombers fan I am disappointed we let Luke Ball get through to Collingwood. I think he will help their midfield for at least the next 5 years and he could have been helping ours whereas our younger recruits are probably 2 to 3 years away at least from being able to have a significant impact on a game like Luke Ball does. Also this will make it harder for us to beat Collingwood next year as they already have a strong side. His selection would have taken some of the pressure off Jobe Watson who has done the great majority of the inside midfielders role himself and Ball would have been a great help to him. I hope we haven't helped Collingwood win their next premiership at our own expense. Concerned Bomber fan.

Drew Hildebrandt from Hadfield says: Hard to tell at this stage if they are good picks. Of course on paper they all look great but I must admit I was a little shattered when Bastinic and Stevens were taken at picks 21 and 23. I thought either would have suited us nicely but they just didn't get through to 24. Good luck to all of them in 2010.

Rueben from Canberra says: Please EFC look long and hard at Majak, this kid has got something special, seen pleanty of blokes with half his talent on a rookie list. Could be a super star with the right training.
