PUBLIC tickets for next Saturday's traditional Anzac Day clash between Essendon and Collingwood are currently exhausted, the AFL confirmed in a statement on Thursday evening.

The League said that "a very limited number of standing room tickets" were still on sale for AFL members to purchase.

However, there is some hope for those who are yet to secure a ticket.

Any remaining tickets, including restricted view and public standing room, will be released at midday on Wednesday, April 22 to the general public, club members and AFL members.

Tickets can be purchased through a Ticketek outlet, by phone on 132 849 or online at ticketek.com.au.

Last year's blockbuster – which the Pies won by 73 points – attracted 88,999 patrons to the MCG and it appears that 2009's attendance could match or even better that.

The greatest crowd for an Anzac Day game was in 1995, when 94,825 people watched the Bombers lock horns with the Pies.

That one finished in a draw.

Only one other home and away game – a Queen's Birthday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood in 1958 – has drawn a bigger attendance (99,346).
