VFL Senior Coach Leigh Tudor takes us through each player's performance.
Ben Hobbs
31 disposals, nine clearances, eight inside 50s
Hobbs had a good game, he was in and under. Really good midfield contested game, but was also able to get on the outside and impact the game with some run. He worked really hard throughout the whole game and was one of our best.
Lewis Hayes
13 disposals, eight kicks, five marks
Still learning his craft, but played really well. Worked up and down the ground and tried to get involved in our take while also getting involved down back in the air.
Nick Bryan
17 disposals, 31 hit-outs, five clearances
Bryan's first game back saw him compete hard. He ran well and played well in the wet and slippery conditions as the main ruck.
Alastair Lord
21 disposals, three marks, three tackles
One of his better matches for the club, he has some good moments in defence and his run and carry was back to where we know it can be.
Rhett Montgomerie
23 disposals, five marks, three clearances
Montgomerie had a different role this week, playing higher up the ground rather than deep. He was learning a different position and did a good job. He picked up what needed to be done really quickly, he wasn't in the long ball contest as much as previous weeks.
Patrick Voss
Two goals, 14 disposals, four marks
Voss worked really hard, kicking two goals. It's really good to see him compete against a Casey backline who play the ball very strong. He had to work really hard this week and his impact showed.
Tex Wanganeen
Six disposals, two marks, three tackles
Tex didn't get a lot of the ball but worked hard, not getting used on occasions. He has been play forward and has been actively looking to work out more ways he can impact more contests.
Massimo D'Ambrosio
23 disposals, 14 kicks, five marks
A solid game in defence and played the conditions well. He got a lot of the ball while also playing well on his man.
Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
10 disposals, five marks, two tackles
His pressure was great. He was in and out of the game a little bit but when he one the ball, he made really good decisions. He set up Anthony (Munkara) for his first goal.
Anthony Munkara
One goal, six disposals, three marks
His best game in Essendon colours so far, was proactive and is still learning the way we play. His chase pressure and ability to help challenge the defence is terrific. He is starting to realise how his speed and agility can be highly impactful.
