Essendon’s New South Wales affiliate club, North Shore, secured their third Premiership in the past four years on the weekend after defeating St George in a tight tussle.

Facing a four point deficit heading into the final quarter, North Shore launched a determined effort to over-run their opponent in the final term to secure a 21-point victory.

North Shore centre-half back, Ryan Davis was impressive all game and was recognised for his unrelenting efforts, being awarded the Ron Podbury medal for Best on Ground.

Dale Fitzgerald and Adam Lord also recorded stirring performances, most notably for their work in the midfield, while Chris McLachlan was powerful up forward.

Essendon's affiliate club in Tasmania, Lauderdale, also finished the year on a high.

The club won its first Premier league flag last week, with the U17s defeating North Hobart by five goals.

It brings their tally of flags up to four for the season with the U13s, U14s and super rules all winning as well.
