David Zaharakis may have fulfilled his childhood dream by kicking the winning goal on Anzac Day but does he have what it takes to be named Essendon's SuperBoot.
Don’t miss your chance to see all your favourite Bombers battle it out in a knock-out goal kicking contest at the club's open training session on Monday 25th January, with the last remaining player being crowned Essendon’s SuperBoot.
Each player will be paired up with a randomly selected supporter on the day. The player will be that fans' designated kicker in the knockout competition. If your player misses a goal you are knocked out of the competition. Keep kicking goals and keep progressing.
The coaching staff will nominate where they want players kicking from and fans will get a perfect view of the action as they stand on the mark as their partner tries to keep them alive in the competition.
Every selected supporter will score themselves a free pair of adidas boots signed by the player that they are partnering in the event.
The fan partnered with the winning player will also take home a Samsung digital camera, a signed Yakult football, and a team-signed Essendon guernsey – all the equipment needed to become the ultimate SuperBoot.
To be in the running, simply attend Essendon’s open training session at Windy Hill on Monday 25th January 2010.
Plus don’t miss out on the last opportunity to see the Bombers going through an intense training session before school goes back.
The day will also include a player signing session, photo opportunities and a BBQ.
WHAT: Essendon open training and SuperBoot competition
WHEN: Monday 25th January 2010
WHERE: Windy Hill, Napier Street, Essendon
TIME: Training from 8am – 9.30am, SuperBoot competition from 9.30am
Essendon vice-captain Andrew Welsh says hard work and consistency will be the keys if the Bombers are to play finals' football in 2010. Essendon finished in the eight last year despite winning just 10 games for the season - it will need to improve substantially on that if it is to be regarded as a genuine contender.
