Essendon ruckman David Hille says the club’s two day community camp this week gave the players a chance to show their appreciation for the support from the Goldfields region.

The Bombers two day camp through Maryborough, Castlemaine and Kyneton included a number of community and school visits as well as kids clinics.

“We were there for a couple of days, speaking to some kids and doing a few other activities which was really good fun,” Hille said.

“It is good to remind yourself of the support you have right around the state.”

“You sometimes get stuck in Melbourne and something like this reminds you there is support for you everywhere, which is a really positive thought to be able to have.”

Hille addressed year 8 and 9 students at Maryborough Education Centre on day one of the camp and said it was rewarding experience.

“Hopefully they can take something away from it whether it is about diet, getting involved in sport or keeping active and then they are able to respond to that,” he said

“You just want to give them a positive response to their questions and give them an idea of what is involved in our lives.”
