The Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce the results of the 2022 Director Election following the closure of voting on Monday, December 12 2022.
Elections for directors are conducted in accordance with the club's Constitution and Election Rules.
The candidates elected to the Essendon Board are ANDREW MUIR and ANDREW WELSH.
These candidates received the highest number of votes.
Andrew Muir first joined the Essendon Board in 2015. He is a successful business leader and philanthropist with over 25 years of retail, leadership, strategic and management experience in his role as executive chairman of The Good Guys from 2005 to 2017 after being CEO of The Good Guys from 1993.
Andrew Welsh was appointed to the Essendon Board in September 2022 filling the vacant position left by Simon Madden. Welsh played 163 games for the Bombers including being vice-captain before transitioning into the business world. As founder and Managing Director at Wel.Co, Welsh has worked with Australia’s leading property developers on residential, commercial, and retail developments across the country.
The election of Mr Muir and Mr Welsh will be formally declared at the 2022 Essendon Football Club Annual General Meeting on Thursday, December 15 2022. Each director is elected for a three-year term.
The Essendon Football Club thanks all candidates and members who voted for their contributions to the election process.
CorpVote Pty Ltd ran the independent voting process.
All votes were submitted through the CorpVote system run as a secret ballot process.
