Jobe Watson has revealed his excitement to return in the 2016 season.
Having not played since his 200th game in round 14 due to injury, Watson has been able to get away from football and mentally refresh after what had been a trying season.
There had been speculation that the 30-year-old had lost his passion for the game and was contemplating not returning to football.
However, speaking at Wednesday night’s Crichton Medal, the captain revealed his eagerness to get back into the side and onto the field in 2016.
“At different times it’s been challenging, there have been peaks and troughs to it,” said Watson.
“Going away and thinking about what I want to do, and how I feel has been good.
“I’m excited to come back and train, and be a part of this and to be with these guys.”
After undergoing surgery almost nine weeks ago, Watson told the crowd that his injury was progressing well and that he had begun some light training.
Aside from being able to return to the field, Watson also shared his excitement surrounding the new coach that will be joining the Club in 2016, believing that the move will provide the boys with a clean slate to pave the way for a much more successful year.
“With someone coming in, whether it’s someone who’s been proven at a senior level or someone new, it’s an opportunity - as Hirdy touched on when he left, to create some clear air and some space and start afresh.”
Watson, and the rest of the senior players, will now take some time away from the Cclub and training to refresh before the pre-season begins in November.
