Bendigo knocked out of finals race

The 2007 finals hopes of the Bendigo Bombers have been dashed after going down by 37 points in their elimination final against the North Ballarat Roosters on Saturday.
The loss is shattering for the Bombers who - despite being ahead by nine goals during the third quarter - could not match the 11-goal blitz put on by the Roosters in the final quarter.
A positive sign to come out of the match was the form displayed by Essendon-listed Mark Johnson and Heath Hocking.
Both players found plenty of the football and were instrumental in moving the ball forward for Bendigo.
Bendigo’s best players were Hocking, Flaherty, Lee, Maher, Johnson, and Jolley.
The Bombers fell eight points short of producing one of the most exhilarating comebacks of all time as they attempted to provide their greatest living player James Hird, and coach of 27 years Kevin Sheedy with a fairytale finish to their stellar careers.
