Essendon VFL has been defeated by a fast finishing Richmond at Punt Road Oval on Saturday afternoon in the Dreamtime game.
The Dons had a one point lead at half time but the Tigers were too strong after the main break, running away with a 17 point win.
Alex Boyse was a standout, kicking five goals, to take his season total to 16.
Ben Howlett was the major ball winner against the Tigers, with 36 disposals and two goals.
Aaron Heppell and Shaun McKernan both returned to the side after injury.
Heppell was on modified game time, but showed glimpses of his best and fairest winning form, finishing with 10 disposals and 5 tackles.
McKernan was strong in the forward half for the Dons, his presence was evident, taking five strong marks and kicking one goal.
With Tom Bellchambers called up to the senior side, Sam Draper stepped up in the ruck. The 18 year old dominated winning majority of the hit outs.
The Bombers were able to get multiple entries inside 50 but were unable to convert on the scoreboard.
Inaccuracy in front of goals let the side down, as they kicked 14 behinds.
Essendon are placed seventh on the ladder after three wins and four losses.
