Hard working midfielder Ben Howlett is confident he can continue to build his fitness base throughout the season in order to have a more consistent 2015.
Howlett has started the last two seasons strongly before tapering off as the season draws to a close.
The 26-year-old is confident he has put together a program to improve his consistency throughout the season.
“Personally I am looking to be more consistent as the last couple of years I have probably been a little inconsistent,” Howlett said.
“I am looking to maintain my fitness as well because during the year it is hard to keep fit because we are so fatigued during the year and it is a hard time to train.
“During the year we work on cross training and we have the altitude room now so we can do little things like that to keep our fitness up this year.”
Howlett booted 12 goals last season including a bag of five against Richmond in Dreamtime at the G clash.
The tenacious midfielder is hopeful of continue to improve his forward craft to continue to impact the scoreboard in the 2015 season.
“It is definitely something I have worked on in the last few years with Chappy and Melky to an extent,” he said.
“We are all working down forward and needing to be able to play multiple positions now.
“It is definitely something I would like to do more of but also to still be playing through the midfield.”
Draftees Jayden Laverede and Kyle Langford impressed the experienced midfielder during Wednesday morning’s intra club practice match.
Howlett praising the performance of the pair since they start training with the club in November.
“They are definitely exciting and I think that is the best thing about them,” Howlett said.
“When they come into skills it is always exciting because when they get the ball you don’t know what they are going to do.
“I think they have mixed in really well and they are learning very quickly so I think we will definitely see them throughout the year playing games.”
