Following Essendon’s 44-point defeat to Brisbane on Sunday, head of medical services Megan Smith provides an update on our list’s health and highlights some individual performances.
Performance
Georgia Gee was topped the GPS figures once again with a total of 8.7km, with 17-year-old Amber Clarke just behind her with 8.6km.
Clarke’s work rate was also impressive with an average of 24 per cent of her distance being performed at high-speed.
On the wing, Cat Phillips impressed with a total of 8.4km, with an average of 130 metres per minute and 29.1 per cent as high-speed running.
Renee Tierney had 28.5 per cent high-speed running, which was in the top end of small forwards for intensity.
Injury
Georgia Nanscawen
Georgia’s rehab from her ACL injury is progressing well and she should be starting to run in the next fortnight.
Mia van Dyke
Mia suffered a shoulder injury last week at training. She will now start rehab to strengthen the joint but will miss an estimated two to three weeks.
Ellyse Gamble
Ellyse is progressing steadily after her calf injury in round five. She has commenced strength work and starting to prepare for impact training. Ellyse is still an estimated three to five weeks away.
