Essendon’s nominations for the upcoming AFL Players’ MVP Awards have been revealed.
The Bombers have nominated Dyson Heppell, Devon Smith and Tom Bellchambers for the MVP, while Heppell is also automatically nominated for the Best Captain Award.
Young midfielder Matt Guelfi has been nominated for the Best First Year award, which teammate Andrew McGrath took home in 2017.
Guelfi has averaged 15 disposals across the season and has impressed with his athleticism and attack at the contest.
Defender Matt Dea is in the running for the Most Courageous Player and rounds out the club’s nominees.
The awards will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018.
