After Essendon’s 1-point defeat to Carlton on Sunday, head of medical services Megan Smith provides an update on our list's health and highlights some individual performances.
Performance
Looking at work rate and high-speed running, Joanne Doonan was impressive with a top of 134 metres per minute, Alana Barba was 128 metres per minute and Daria Bannister with 123 metres per minute.
These rates are impressive for midfielders and Bannister as a high forward, with the league average being around 125 metres per minute.
Georgia Gee covered much of the ground against her old side, with a total of 8.1km, while Cain accumulated 7.7km and Cat Phillips ran 7.3km.
For efforts over 85% top speed, Jess Wuetschner had six and Bonnie Toogood had four.
Injuries
Bella Ayre
Bella has suffered a minor setback, with onset of a groin injury during rehabilitation. She will deload for a few sessions and then recommence loading back to full capacity.
Jorja Borg
Jorja’s recovery from a fractured foot is progressing well. She has one more week left in her moon boot before making the next step in her recovery.
Eloise Ashley-Cooper
Eloise is also recovering well from a stress fracture and will move out of her moon boot this week and start to introduce impact loading over the coming weeks.
