The start of trade week today will see a hive of activity with clubs jockeying to find that player, or draft pick, that will help them towards a Premiership.
 
The biggest name being thrown around is the Sydney Swans’ former All-Australian, Ryan O’Keefe, and this week’s poll is 'would you recruit O'Keefe to Essendon?'
 
 
Last week’s poll was whether the Bombers should go after Ben Cousins and the results were surprisingly close.
 
Just under half (47.36%) of fans said ‘yes’ and just over half (50.39%) said ‘no’ with the remainder undecided.

Rob from WA says: Going after Cousin's would be a smack in the face for what Knights and the team are doing promoting youth! Ben reportedly says he has 2 good years and the only teams that should go after him are those that are on the verge of having to start going through another rebuilding phase

Graeme from Strathmore says: Ryan O'Keefe is a local and would be a better option to consider than Cousins.

AUSSIE2 from UPPER PAKENHAM says: Ben looks very fit and i think he could be very serviceable for the next few years. He could be an excellent midfielder sharing the load with Jobe and could also teach the younger brigade that are coming on. But, I would prefer our great club to go after Daniel Kerr, a great footballer that we could get at least 7 years out of.

Andrew Sertori from Prospect says: Essendon wouldn’t want to get O'Keefe and Ben Cousins.

BJ Steel from Vic says: We should chase Ryan O'Keefe instead of Cousins. He would make a bigger difference to the side. He can play on the forward flank and won’t take up a valuable learning position like Cousins would. Cousins would slow the development of Myers, Houli, Reimers etc whereas Ryan could just float in the forward half and be a lead up player with Lloyd to leave Gumby and Neagle in the goal square.

Matthew from WA says: to allow Ben cousins to play for Essendon FC would be a joke. It would stop a young player getting to their dream of playing with Essendon FC torn to shreds. It’s the last uncomprimised draft for youth. I would tear up my membership.

Damian from Vic says: I think the Pies should get Cousins let them have him he still has issues and has admitted to not being over his drug problem he doesn’t want to give it up, let’s be honest. At the end of the day he is in his 30’s how many years do you honestly think he can play two maybe three if his body holds up.

Robjohn from Craigburn Farm. S.A. says: As good a player as he was he has been out of footy for too long. With the playing group we have it would waste a pick to get a younger player. We are not looking for a quick fix just a Premiership (in the next few years please).

Mawbz from s.a. says: it`s going to take a few years but lets stick with getting young new players to the club. With Ben we don`t need the worry that comes with him. New coach new baby bomber era!!!! if we can keep a fit list free from injuries next year we can do some damage to most of the teams who played finals this year, we don`t need Cousins !!!
