John Worsfold says his passion for the game has never waned.
The 2006 premiership Coach was announced as the Bombers new Coach today.
He joins the Club after more than a quarter of a century in the game, including a 12-year coaching tenure at the West Coast Eagles.
“I never lost the passion, but I was tired at the end of my reign,” Worsfold said.
“I absolutely needed a break and it would have been the wrong thing to remain coach of that group without the energy to do it.
“AFL footy is my passion, it’s what I love doing and that’s why I’ve done it for 26 years.
“I feel refreshed and energetic and really ready to do the job.”
In the two seasons since leaving the Eagles, Worsfold has taken on roles with the Coaches Association and the Laws of the Game Committee.
Midway through 2015, he returned to the 'club' environment when he joined the Adelaide Crows.
“That certainly showed me what I was missing out on,” Worsfold said.
“Being in that environment showed me it’s where I like being.
“I love the team environment and working with people.”
