There’s no more powerful moment in football than the minute 90,000 spectators collectively hold their silence around the MCG in honour of those who have fallen in the line of duty, only to be followed by the deafening roar to celebrate the national anthem.

It’s the biggest game of the year behind the Grand Final and is the next in our series of the most anticipated games of 2014.

Essendon once again will come up against Collingwood on the hallowed MCG turf on ANZAC Day and it promises to be another ANZAC Day classic in 2014.

This year’s spectacle will be the 20th installment of the traditional clash, with the Bombers having won on eight occasions, Collingwood ten along with the famous draw in 1995.

2013 witnessed a Bomber domination, as ANZAC Day specialist David Zaharakis once again took the game by the scruff of the neck with a commanding 34-disposal, four-goal display to claim his first ANZAC Day medal.

The 2014 edition promises to be another epic as the two sides shape up as an even match, with both Essendon and Collingwood finishing on 14 wins for the 2013 season.

With a difficult beginning to the season, it will be crucial for the club to build up as many wins as possible and there are few wins sweeter than those that come against Collingwood.

In a year full of big matches, this one’s arguably the biggest, and it’s just one of the many games for Bomber fans to be excited about in 2014.

Join the Bomber army today as we strive for 60,000 members in 2014.
