Essendon will make a decision on Tuesday morning on whether it will hand delisted free agents Xavier Richards and Josh Green a lifeline.

Coach John Worsfold confirmed the pair had met with the Bombers and visited their Tullamarine training base.

Richards, the younger brother of recently retired Swans veteran Ted, was axed after rejecting a new two-year deal with Sydney last month, and failed to find a new home during the NAB AFL Trade Period.

He played 10 senior games for the Swans in 2016, including their Grand Final loss to the Western Bulldogs.

Green is also looking for another chance at AFL level after being delisted by the Brisbane Lions following 81 games.

Worsfold said Essendon's list management team would meet on Tuesday to make a decision on the pair.

"I've spoken with both those guys and they've both been out to the footy club," Worsfold told SEN radio.

"We've had a chat to them and shown them around the facilities. There are definitely a couple of others that we've spoken to as well. We're just doing our usual work to make sure that we cover all possibilities and players that are available."

Worsfold confirmed the club had space to recruit two delisted free agents, with the Bombers required to take a minimum of three players in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft.

The delisted free agency period concludes on Tuesday afternoon, with several other players also facing a nervous wait.

Former Demons Jack Grimes and Chris Dawes, Dockers Alex Silvagni and Matt de Boer, Gold Coast's Clay Cameron, Carlton's Andrejs Everitt, Port Adelaide's Cam O'Shea, Hawthorn's Angus Litherland, North Melbourne's Drew Petrie and Western Bulldog Will Minson are among those hoping to find a new home.

A second delisted free agency period will reopen on Thursday and run until Friday, November 18.

The rookie draft on Monday, November 28 is also another possible lifeline.
