Essendon will host traditional rival Carlton - its first-ever opponent - in a blockbuster Friday night clash dedicated to the club's 150th anniversary.

Here's everything you need for the huge match and the lead-up to it across Federation Square and the MCG.

FED SQUARE TO THE GOAL SQUARE
A legendary lead-in to the game from 4pm

The game-day festivities will begin at Federation Square from 4pm with a gathering of fans and iconic Essendon legends, presented by Fujitsu General Australia and supported by Liberty Financial, with activities to include:

    • McCafé Coffee Van serving The Australiano – a unique taste of McCafé coffee, chai and native wattle seed
    • AYA J performing on the Fed square stage, brought to you by the Mushroom Group's First Nations Program in partnership with Coles
    • Fujitsu AFL Skills Zone
    • Liberty signing session, with past EFC players, photo wall and handball activation

A roll call of Essendon’s past premiership legends will be on hand throughout the afternoon, including signing sessions and in-depth Q&As with MC Simon Madden.

The congregation will conclude at 6:15pm with the red and black faithful joining club legends Mark Harvey, Simon Madden, Kevin Sheedy and Terry Daniher on a truly legendary walk to the ‘G.

150-YEAR CELEBRATION GAME
Be in your seats by 7:15pm

A once-in-a-generation pre-game celebration will take place on the MCG ahead of our blockbuster game against the old rival Carlton.

Every Essendon fan will want to be in their seats by 7:15pm to immerse themselves in a stellar showcase of our 150 years of history.

Narrated by Senator Briggs, the pre-game will re-create some of the most iconic moments of the Essendon Football Club with key figures throughout our history celebrated on the hallowed turf.

Past premiership heroes will flank the banner as the team enter, with our oldest living premiership player Hugh Mitchell to toss the coin before the bounce. Even the coin will be special, with the coin used for the Bombers’ first ever game at Marvel Stadium (then Colonial Stadium) in 2001 to come out from the archives for this truly unique occasion.

The Bombers will take to the field in a specially designed 150-year anniversary guernsey, adorned with the name of every VFL/AFL player to have donned the sash since 1872 and sporting the historic thin red sash synonymous with the 'Same Olds' of the early 20th century.

ACTIVATIONS

Visit the Fujitsu team outside Gate 3 from 5:30pm to score yourself some great goodies and a chance to grab some cash.

The team from AIA Vitality will be hosting their health zone and photo wall outside Gate 1, with some great giveaways on offer.

Visit the Amart Bombers Living Room pre-game outside Gate 3 on the concourse to find out how you could be on the ground to kick for some amazing prizes at three-quarter time.

Fans can participate in the Fujitsu Fast Five half-time trivia by simply scanning the QR code on the big screen for their chance to win!
