The Bendigo Bombers have suffered a disheartening 88-point defeat to Sandringham at Windy Hill in their last match before the VFL finals.
Bendigo lagged behind Sandringham from the outset of the match and, despite outscoring Sandringham in the second quarter, were helpless against Sandringham's goal-scoring onslaught in the second half and finished with a disappointing 4.10 (34) to Sandringham's 18.14 (122).
Bendigo's usual list of Essendon players and rookies will be lining up for Essendon today against the Brisbane Lions due to the injuries and illness being experienced by the Essendon side.
Bendigo are still guaranteed a finals berth, while Sandringham will not have enough points to qualify.
Single goals were scored by Essendon rookie Michael Still and Bendigo's Pierce Liddle, Jacob Thompson and Michael James.
