Essendon is out of the NAB Cup for 2006 losing by one point to Brisbane at Carrara tonight. It was a heart-breaking loss for the Bombers after they led for the entire night before a behind to Jarred Brennan in the last three seconds of the game put the Lions in front.
It has been some time since Essendon produced its best football in the pre-season competition, but you get the feeling they want to be more than competitive this time around. It is not always the best guide to what follows when the real stuff begins - just ask Carlton supporters - but it is still important that the Bombers show some good signs against Brisbane on tonight.
