Essendon Captain Matthew Lloyd joined Health Minister Bronwyn Pike to launch the ‘Kids go for your life’ resource kit this week during a visit to the Isabel Henderson Kindergarten in North Fitzroy.

Lloyd, who is an ambassador for ‘Kids go for your life’, is passionate about supporting the program which aims to encourage physical activity and healthy eating in children.

""Being physically active is not only good for you, it can also be fun. You don’t have to play organised sport to stay healthy - walking, running or cycling are also great ways to keep active. As a kid I remember spending most of my spare time playing games outside with my friends. It’s much more fun than sitting in front of a television,"" Lloyd said.

The new resource kit is aimed to provide primary schools and early childhood services with a comprehensive and simple guide to creating a healthier environment for children.

More than 500 Victorian primary schools and early childhood services are participating in the first stage of the ‘Kids go for your life’ Award Program, which was launched October 2005.
