Essendon Captain Jobe Watson has undergone surgery to repair his injured shoulder.
The procedure conducted by surgeon Mr. Greg Hoy was successful.
“Jobe will spend the next two to three weeks resting,” Club Doctor Bruce Reid said.
“He should make a full recovery in about 12-16 weeks.”
Watson carried a shoulder complaint in to the match against St Kilda and aggravated it early in the match.
He told BomberTV of his disappointment in not being able to play out the season as the club tries to turn around its recent form.
Essendon Coach James Hird said Watson’s absence would provide opportunities for senior players to take on more leadership responsibility as well as offer the chance for young players to spend more time in the midfield.
