Essendon VFL faces a must-win game to keep its top-four aspirations alive when it takes on Werribee this Sunday.
Just percentage separates Essendon and Werribee - sitting fifth and sixth on the ladder respectively – with the loser almost certain to miss out on the all-important double chance.
“You can see each week positions are changing in the top-eight depending on wins and losses,” VFL Co-Coach Paul Corrigan said.
“Hopefully we can get back on the winner’s board this week against Werribee and consolidate ourselves in the top-four.”
Sam Taglibue and Shuan McKernan are set to have their hands full as they come up against talented Werribee big-man Majak Daw.
Daw has been a dominant VFL figure this season for the Tigers.
He’s booted 23 goals rotating between the ruck and up forward.
“Majak is one of those ruckman that has got a super leap on him, works hard around the ground, and has good speed as well,” Corrigan said.
“Shauny and Tags will have their work cut out, but no doubt they’re up for the challenge.”
Corrigan urged fans to show their support and get down to Windy Hill before the AFL side kicks off later that afternoon.
“It’s a great opportunity being a 12pm game.”
“Hopefully we can see a number of fans there supporting the Bombers on Sunday.”
