Essendon is pleased to offer its fans and members the chance to win a virtual meet and greet with a player to promote the club's flagship Train Like a Bomber program for the final term of the 2021 secondary school year.
The Train Like a Bomber program offers eight online lessons for secondary school students to focus on the lifecycle of an elite athlete, physiological training, physiological testing, movement, performance psychology, nutrition, culture and game day. These lessons are aligned to the Victorian curriculum.
Students and teachers will be provided with digital and practical learning opportunities associated with high-performance environments and athlete development on and off the field.
Bombers members and fans who successfully refer the club’s Train Like a Bomber program to their school for term four will go into the draw to win a virtual meet and greet with a Dons player.
All you have to do is get your school to complete the booking form here and ensure the school lists your name on the form.
Community and academies manager and James Hird Academy head coach Harmit Singh said the Train Like a Bomber program had been implemented into the development program for Essendon’s Next Generation Academy and father-son prospects with great success.
Singh believes secondary school students will benefit from using a program which is helping to develop the next batch of AFL stars.
“It’s a resource we’ve worked really hard to develop,” Singh said.
“I think that students would get a lot of value out of completing the program. The feedback from our James Hird Academy intake has been really positive.
“It gives anyone a glimpse into the lifestyle of an elite athlete and the requirements it takes to come (into an AFL environment) and perform.
“I’d love for as many students to get into it as possible.”
Registrations for the term four Train Like a Bomber program promotion closes on September 30, 2021.
