Essendon coach James Hird and captain Jobe Watson have tapped into Grand Final week celebrations and excitement, having placed their hot tips ahead of Saturday's blockbuster clash between Geelong and Collingwood.

Hird, a dual premiership player, caught up with essendonfc.com.au to reveal his predictions in the lead up to the Grand Final battle.

Hird believes the Cats will prove too strong for the Pies at the MCG, claiming a victory by 21 points. Geelong utility Joel Selwood received Hird’s nod for the Norm Smith Medal.

Watson also followed suit, predicting the Cats to claim their third Grand Final victory in five years by 15 points. James Kelly was Watson’s forecast for the coveted Norm Smith.
