The Essendon Pathway Academy (EPA) is a community pathway program designed for developing players within Essendon’s region who turn 15 years old in the current year.

The academy brings together athletes from Community, Interleague, School, and N.G.A programs, forming a squad that receives foundational education in pathway football.

Held at the NEC Hangar, the EPA provides exclusive access to high-performance facilities, experienced coaches, and tailored education to enhance players' understanding of elite-level football.

The program is open to both eligible and non-eligible NGA players.

Participation is by invitation only, with EFC Pathways staff actively scouting games and training sessions to identify emerging talent.

Running over nine weeks, the EPA hosts 45 boys and 45 girls between the conclusion of the junior season (August) and the start of the Calder Cannons U16 pre-season (November). While players in the program may be considered for Calder Cannons pre-season opportunities, selection is not guaranteed.
