3 mobile thanks and your chance to win!

Essendon today thanked the club’s current major partner, 3 mobile, for its support over the past eight years.

“Essendon and 3 mobile have enjoyed a successful long-term partnership and both organisations have grown considerably during this period," managing director, Peter Jackson, said today.

"The 3 mobile contract expires at the end of this season and Samsung - who are currently our shorts sponsor and technology partner - were keen to increase their involvement at the club.

"We are in discussions about how 3 mobile and Essendon might continue to work together in the future.”

3 mobile sponsorship and partnership manager, Ian Jickell, thanked the Essendon fans, saying their support has been instrumental in the company's growth during this successful period.

"Over the past eight years 3 mobile has been on a great journey as the major partner of the Essendon Football Club and during this time have enjoyed a close partnership with the club," Mr Jickell said.

"We had the chance to work with some greats of the game, including Kevin Sheedy and James Hird, as well as many others who helped make the partnership so successful.

"We thank Essendon Football Club for their support over the past eight years, and wish Essendon and Samsung all the best with their partnership."

To recognise the support of 3 mobile, Essendon fans are being asked to comment on 'What has been their favourite EFC footy moment from 2001 – 2008?' (the period 3 Mobile has been a partner of the club).

The best entry (drawn on Thursday 28 August 2008) will receive a mobile phone thanks to Essendon’s major partner 3 mobile, four tickets to attend the Round 22 match against St Kilda and an official Essendon apparel outfit (including a media polo, track jacket, cap and scarf) for them and their three friends!

The competition will run from Saturday 23 August – Thursday 28 August.

To enter, email your favourite footy moment from the past 8 years (2001 - 2008) and contact details (name, address, age, phone number, email) to favouritefootymoment@essendonfc.com.au.

it has to be essendon 2004 win over melbourne in the elimanation final. Essendon won by 5 points and i remember watching it and it ending in the defencive half for essendon with melbourne 1 goal away from winning and the commentator saying "" this better be a good kick "" so the player kicks it to the side to a one on one situation with James Hird and he marks it with one hand the siren then blows. He throws the ball in the air in releif and the commentator goes "" that was a good kick !""

The come back game wins hands down. Round 16 2001, to be 69 points down in the 2nd quarter, and to come back and win by 2 goals is just a phenomenal achievement. That game set 2 AFL records at the time, of which both may still be standing, the greatest comeback to win a game in VFA/VFL/AFL history, the most goals kicked in a game in VFA/VFL/AFL history (52) and it also had the most goals kicked to one end of the ground (back when the MCG still had the Ponsford stand). The moment Slasher kicked the goal to put us in front, is one of the most remarkable feelings I've ever had as an Essendon fan -that game is one that can be watched over and over again, and cherished by all fooball fans.

The comeback game against North in 2001 is the one that remains in the memory amongst many other great moments of the period shared by Essendon & 3 Mobile.Being a league record ( 69 points ) qualifies it as a remarkable victory, come from behind wins are always the most exciting & best & this was the pinnacle. It was a true example of perserverance , professionalism , determination ,self belief , class & teamwork. The club should always be rightfully proud of that game & 3 mobile for being associated with such a win.

I might be bias, but Dustin Fletcher's 75m goal in round 4 against St Kilda in 2007 was a magic moment for me. Dustin is my favourite player and a 'true legend' of the EFC. Go Fletch!
