The Bombers are delighted to announce a new strategic partnership with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC).
Launched at The Hangar on Thursday morning, the partnership represents a unique alliance between two of Australia’s most iconic sporting organisations ahead of the annual Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 in March.
The new alignment between Essendon and the AGPC is focused on innovation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs including The Long Walk, and STEM education to benefit our respective fans, members and commercial partners.
The Bombers will host their 2019 Season Launch at Albert Park in the week of the Australian Grand Prix, with guests having the ability to access a variety of new and exclusive experiences within the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit. Essendon will also have a presence at the event’s Innovation & Technology Hub, where Melbourne’s global recognition as a leading technology city and sporting capital of the world meet.
Essendon CEO Xavier Campbell welcomed the AGPC to the red and black family.
“We are thrilled to announce this exciting partnership and look forward to the many opportunities it will present for both organisations,” Campbell said.
“This new partnership model with the AGPC reflects both organisations’ ongoing commitment to innovation and is in line with our club’s revised focus on the development of our strategic partnership portfolio, which also includes RMIT and the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC).
“Importantly too, this new alignment also highlights both organisations’ shared commitment to recognising and celebrating our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and culture, working hand in hand with The Long Walk to deliver educational programs and events across both organisations.
“We look forward to working closely with AGPC CEO Andrew Westacott, Craig Fletcher and their teams over the coming months in the lead-up to the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix.”

“There’s tremendous synergies between our respective organisations, across innovation, cutting-edge technology, our education focus, strategic direction and our customer engagement efforts,” Fletcher said.
“We believe it’s the first time a major international event in Australia has partnered with a leading Australian sporting club, so we’re thrilled to be partnering with a club like Essendon who are on the eve of an exciting 2019 season.”
Held annually, the Australian Grand Prix will run from 14 - 17 March. The Grand Prix was first held in Australia in 1928, making it the oldest surviving motor racing competition in Australia.
