Essendon utility Mason Redman has suffered a setback to his pre-season after injuring his ankle during training on Friday.
The 21-year-old had completed a strong showing in the club’s time trial before the incident occurred.
“Mason ran a good time trial before getting his leg tangled during a marking contest at our training session today, injuring his right ankle,” Physical Preparation Manager Justin Crow said.
“He has since undergone scans and while his previous syndesmosis injury appears unaffected, he has an undisplaced fracture in his right ankle.
“We will be seeking specialist advice over the coming week to establish what our best management options are and what might be a likely prognosis.”
The club will provide further updates on Redman’s injury when they come to hand.
