KOBE MUTCH – Round six vs Melbourne
- 20 disposals
- Six marks
When Kobe Mutch overcame a frustrating pre-season injury to return to the VFL in strong form, there was never much doubt that his breakthrough senior game would not be far away.It came in a tough clash against Melbourne in round six, but Mutch looked far from out of his depth at senior level, putting together an impressive debut.
Mutch gathered 20 disposals and six marks as he displayed the strong running ability and work-rate that has defined his first two seasons at the club.
Another noticeable element of his performance was his courage as he continually stood exposed underneath high balls with plenty to prove for his new teammates and fans.
Mutch’s season has been interrupted since after suffering a series of headaches that kept him off the ground for a fortnight, but his return on the weekend – gathering 33 disposals – indicated that he is back on track and ready for a big finish to the year.
Mutch said: “It was an unbelievable experience, just to represent a great club with such a proud history and so many members, it was truly an honour. Hearing the roar from the fans just helped me a lot (to) ease into the game. I was pretty confident coming into the game, I knew that I was going to bring effort.”
Good stuff Kobe Mutch @EssendonFC ❤️
