To celebrate the unveiling of The Hangar, Essendon Football Club has been counting down the 10 best ‘hangars’ ever taken in the red and black.
The countdown kicked off with Brownlow Medallist Gavin Wanganeen taking out spot 10 with a courageous fly against Geelong in 1993.
Ruckman Peter Somerville was next as the big man climbed over a pair of Eagles for a spectacular mark in 1991.
The huge grab certainly entertained commentator Bruce McAvaney, who described it as “one of the great marks in the history of the game”.
400-game legend Dustin Fletcher then claimed eighth position with a towering mark over teammate Matthew Lloyd against Hawthorn in 2000, a Premiership year for the duo.
The latest instalment of the countdown saw Mark “Spike” McVeigh launch and clunk a stunning mark against Carlton, landing in seventh place.
There are still six cracking ‘hangars’ to come, so make sure you keep an eye out to see if your favourite makes the cut.
