Essendon has broken another membership record as the Club’s Comeback Story continues to gather momentum.
The Bombers have passed the 50,000-member mark in record time, eclipsing the previous best by 46 days.
Renewal rates are at a record high and new members are up by 62%.
“It’s an amazing effort by the Club,” Crichton Medal winner Cale Hooker said.
“As players we obviously appreciate all of the support from the members.
“Over the last few years, and especially last year, that support the members have shown has really given us great strength and was a big reason why we all wanted to come back and why we’re so passionate about playing for the footy club.”
Essendon’s highest final membership tally (61,317) was recorded in 2015, but the Club is on track to surpass that this season.
“It’s amazing for us as players to know that we’ve got that enormous support from our Essendon faithful,” All-Australian midfielder Dyson Heppell said.
“We truly do feel it when we’re at the ground and the crowd is roaring.
“If we could break our record membership, we’re on really good track to pip that by round one and to have over 61,000 by that Saturday night when we play Hawthorn would be enormous.
“All of the Essendon fans out there, get on board, get your memberships and get around us this year.”
