Essendon will head to Sunbury, Craigieburn, Kyabram and Rochester as part of the 2017 Australia Post AFL Community Camps.

The Bombers will be in Sunbury and Craigieburn on the 9^th and 10^th of March before heading further north to Kyabram and Rochester on the 13^th and 14^th of March.

In between the two camps Essendon will play Geelong in Bendigo as part of the JLT Community series on March 12.

Essendon’s Community Programs Manager Bernard Shepheard said the Community Camps are a great chance to strengthen the Club’s foothold in Victoria’s northwest corridor. 

“The camps in March will provide an important opportunity for the whole playing list to spend time in these communities,” Shepheard said.

“Obviously Sunbury and Craigieburn are in our immediate zone but we also feel we’ll be able to capitalise on the momentum of the game in Bendigo when we head further north to Kyabram and Rochester.

“We’re aware of the support we have in these areas, but we’re also equally aware of just how beneficial it can be for our players to immerse themselves in communities that may not be able to attend games or training sessions as easily as those that live closer to the CBD.”   

Further details will be released in the lead up to the camps. 

Since the conclusion of the season the Bombers have conducted community visits and clinics in Darwin, Tiwi Islands and Maningrida in the Northern Territory, as well as hosting the Next Generation Academy at their Tullamarine training base.
