Scores were tied at half time but the Bombers kicked away in the second half, winning 19.18 (132) to the Blues 8.10 (58).
The Bombers slammed on 13 goals to three after the long interval.
Aaron Heppell led the way with 34 disposals and a goal, while Will Hams had 29 possessions and kicked three goals four.
Nash Holmes had 27 touches, capping off an outstanding day with three goals four also.
Shaun Edwards had 25 touches and three goals and James Polkinghorne had 26 touches and two goals while defender Ben McNiece and ruckman Mark Jamar had 22 touches each.
Essendon will play in an elimination final, likely to be held next Sunday with the opponent yet to be confirmed.
