Essendon’s All-Australian defender Michael Hurley says the appointment of John Worsfold makes for an ‘exciting’ time for the playing group.
Worsfold was announced as the new Bombers Coach on Monday and he met with players that day.
“He seems excited to be a senior coach again and for us as players it’s exciting to have him as well,” Hurley said.
Worsfold led West Coast to the 2006 premiership and the team was part of many famous clashes with Sydney during that period.
“They were very competitive and prided themselves on winning the contested ball so hopefully he can bring that to us as well,” Hurley said.
“To have a coach with such a good background is fantastic for us and the group wants to move forward and I think he’s the right man for the job."
Hurley underwent shoulder surgery after the conclusion of the Bombers season and is making progress ahead of the start of pre-season next month.
“First day out of the sling today which is pretty exciting,” he said.
“Hopefully I start running soon and get back in to some training.”
