Joe Daniher has again shown signs that he has the potential to develop into an elite forwards of the competition.

Daniher was able to turn what has been a disappointing last month around against the Demons, kicking five goals from set shots.

Having only kicked one goal leading up to the game, Daniher started shakily with his first snap completely missing the target and ending up out of bounds on the full.

However, after a slight coaching readjustment and some words with James Hird during the break, Daniher was able to steady and finish the day off strongly.

“Joey was terrific with his marking and positioning and just his hard work off the contest,” Hird said.

“We had to re-align him a little bit and get him back on.”

Coach James Hird was quick to defend his young forward who has come under increasing pressure from outside the club.

Hird reiterated that Daniher’s development is a work in progress, commending him on how he has dealt with and responded to the pressure.

"Joe will have weeks where he'll kick poorly and weeks where he kicks well probably over the next 18 months. But he's working so hard on his goalkicking.

"I'm confident within 18 months he'll be the best set shot in the competition because of the way he works on his game.

“We know he can mark the ball, we know he can compete, we know he's going to get enough opportunities."

With his five goals yesterdat Daniher take his 2015 tally to 27, one shy of his 2014 total which saw him take out Essendon’s leading goal kicker.
